As most people know dating as a single mom is not at all easy. With Kevin Samuels followers demeaning our value every two second and the dating pool being tainted, its extremely important to decide who to date and how to date carefully. People around me know, I don't date often, but here are a couple of things I make sure to keep in my mind when considering going back out in the dating world.
Do background checks.
This may sound crazy, but honestly, do background checks. There are more and more cases of children being harmed by a step parent or someone's boyfriend/girlfriend. It's better to be safe than sorry and doing a background check can be an extra layer of security for you and your babies.
2. Don't introduce them to your children until you know you're serious
Introducing your children to multiple partners is scientifically proven to have effects on your children. It's in your best interest and your child's/children's best interest to take your time when dating someone. Not saying wait 3 years, but if you don't know their last name, family members, occupation, etc. there's no reason they should be meeting your kid(s).
3. There's no need to rush, take your time
Dating can be a rollercoaster ride. There seems to be a 4 week trial period when getting to know someone, before finding out if they're actually the person you think they are. Take your time when getting to know someone and don't put any expectations on yourself or others so you can enjoy it as is.
4. Listen to your instincts
Dating is great, but if you ever get a certain vibe that something is off, trust it! Our gut instinct is always the one we should trust. If they give you A Thin Line Between Love and Hate vibes, or Obsessed vibes, trust your instincts lol
5. Have fun!
As difficult and trying as dating can be, it can also be fun! It shouldn't be overwhelming or stressful, it should be a fun, new experience. If you're using apps, remember while some people are looking for a relationship, other people are just looking to have a good time. Keep open communication and have a time to remember.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Have a great Valentine's Day weekend and a great day on Valentine's Day!
